About ART hound

Geneva Anderson is ARThound.
hound = an addict or devotee
hound = any of several breeds of dog who tracks either by sight or by scent, especially one having a long face and long drooping ears
hound = to hunt, pursue or track as a hound does
ARThound is where passion meets pragmatism–an attempt to find a venue for my curiosity about art and to connect with those who share similar interests. ARThound also recognizes the need in greater Sonoma County for an ARThound…someone who writes about art with the care and passion that went into its creation… someone who digs into the story behind its creation.
I am a free-lance writer based in Penngrove, CA who writes on art, film, identity, and cultural heritage. I grew up on a small farm in Petaluma, California, with lots of animals and gardens. I graduated from Petaluma High School in 1978, from UC Berkeley in 1983 and earned a masters degree from the Columbia School of Journalism in 1987 and masters degrees in public administration and economics from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School in 1988. I covered the transition of Eastern Europe and reported for 8 years from Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and Turkey. I have also worked on assignment from Mexico, South America, Asia and Central Asia. I have written for Art, Arte, ARTnews, The Art Newspaper, Balkan, Balkan News, Flash Art, Neue Bildende Kunst, Sculpture, Euromoney, Gobal Finance, The International Economy, The Press Democrat, The Argus Courier, and other publications. I have edited a number of publications, catalogs, books, and web content. I am the editor for the PACER newsletter (Post Adoption Center for Education and Research).
I am passionate about art, travel, gardening, cooking, and rhodesian ridgebacks. Elmo is the hound in my life, 120 pounds of pure joy and hound inspiration.

Hi Geneva – I wanted to share how much I appreciated your enthusiastic coverage and participation in the Running Fence Revisited’s screenings this week. I hope to stay in touch with you and would love to have coffee sometime if you are interested. I spent some time in Germany pre- and post-unification and would love to hear your stories….

I missed you last night. Are you at SFO on Sunday. I think I’m staying a few miles from you in Cotati. Will you attend Cotati jazz festival today?
Lauren,
The ring cycle was not in order for those in the press…most of us saw the premieres first and consequently did not go to the last 2 of cycle 1.
I am in Penngrove about 4 miles from Sonoma State University but was gone most of the day yesterday. I would like to keep in touch with you regarding standing room and your trekking around for the Ring. Also wish you the best of luck in getting tickets for the rest of the summer. Can you email me your contact info– genevaj@comcast.net
Hi Amy,
Thanks for this reference. It was a pleasure to speak with you. Geneva
Hi Bill,
Thanks so much. I am trying to do more local coverage, report on things that people might not know about as opposed to just reviews of shows and films. If you learn of anything that might be interesting, let me know. See you soon at Mahoney! Geneva
thanks so much, yes, please link.
